This landscape is engraved on an end-grain woodblock made from palo blanco, a local hardwood. I constructed the 28 × 20 cm block from eight individual pieces of wood, carefully joined with glue and then cut and shaped with saws to create the final matrix.
The image evokes the landscape of the barranca and the Paraná River in Rosario. A nocturnal sun rises from behind the port and the industrial structures characteristic of the riverfront—factories, silos, and other utilitarian buildings that define the landscape of the Litoral region.
The Monument to the Flag and several buildings of the city appear along the upper edge of the composition, overlooking a nearly dry river. The work combines recognizable elements of Rosario's urban and industrial landscape with an imagined, almost timeless atmosphere, transforming the river and the city into a quiet nocturnal scene.
