El volquete

“El volquete” (“The Dump Truck”) (2022), engraving on maple wood — known internally during its making as “La ochava” — was produced the same year as “Todo se derrumba” (2022), continuing Kopp's engagement with the urban and industrial landscape of Rosario.

Materials

Engraved on maple wood, one of the harder woods Kopp has worked with, as an alternative to the end-grain palo blanco blocks used in earlier pieces such as “La sequía” and “El exterminio” (2018).

Themes

The volquete — a builder’s debris container — is a recurring object in Kopp’s engraving practice: it reappears, carrying a very different symbolic weight, as the source of the salvaged plastic and the site of a grim discovery in “Aún quedan” (2025).
